This latest Slayers movie isn't very inspired, but it does have some decent points. While Lina and Naga have conflicted before, they've never actually battled it out. This movie basically allows them to fight each other without having some evil villian to fight. So in that regard, I sort of enjoyed this. Other than the showdown between Lina and Naga, there's really not much to this one. There's nothing really funny in this movie, though I did smile when the SD Pico-Pico Lina-chan emerged from the water. There were some other smile moments as well. But to be honest, I was kind of glad when this was finally over. Without a gripping story, there's only so much a conflict between Lina and Naga can support. I always enjoy hearing Hayashibara Megumi at work, but it wasn't enough. And Inoue Kikuko's role as Laiya was pretty much a waste. Bottom line: I'm afraid that beyond the hardcore Slayers fans, this movie won't have much of an audience.Last updated Thursday, January 08 2004. Created Thursday, January 08 2004. | ||||||||
