Now let me see how shall I talk about this anime. Oh I know it is about a brother and sister who win this contest. All of a sudden they find themselves in the video game. But there are some kids who are messing around the computer and unfortunately bad things are happening on the outside of the world. It is up to Shugo and Rena to keep this from happening. Along with some help from those in the game they are able to defeat the monsters.

It lacks what SIGN had. I will say it once, and I will keep saying it, SIGN is not boring, or confusing. This show really doesn't live up to the darkness and mystery of .hack//SIGN. I have to say that I am disappointed. The character voices, I found rather annoying. The Animation was good, but again, lacks what SIGN had. It wasn't dark, it wasn't chilling, it was too light and comical. I don't care if it had more action or not, action doesn't make anything good. They made some interesting choices, but still, they really really lack on the suspense of it. It is rather predictable. Not to mention the "What will happen next time" Highlight Videos at the end of every episode. That kind of spoils it in my opinion. This show was good but not good enough. If I had to choose Sign, or this I would chose SIGN. I'm fairly disappointed.

If you liked the plotline and character development in .hack//Sign, you'll probably be disappointed (like me.) However, this one makes up for what .hack//Sign lacked: fast-moving plot, more action scenes, better animation, fan service

Much, much better than Hack Sign. The story is more interesting by far, the World makes more sense, and the characters are cuter. It's like Bandai (or whoever) looked at the negative comments about Hack Sign and fixed everything.

I have seen the complete series (episodes 1-12) of .hack//Legend of Twilight's Bracelet. I got the collection of four VCD's from eBay, but you can get them from animetronics.com for real cheap! The story of .hack//Legend of Twilight's Bracelet was explained to you above. Shugo and Rena are separated twin brother and sister who won a contest for the characters of the original .hackers (the one's who "supposedly" discovered the final secret of the game) and they meet and level up on The World, the online game that they play together. Along the way, we meet many exciting characters like Mireiyu, Barumunk (Balmunc in the game), Sanjuro, Ouka and more. The story is actually very deep, surrounding strange happenings that just shouldn't occur in The World. Shugo, just as Kite (the character he took over) had, has a bracelet that "data drains" monsters that cannot be regularly defeated. This is fairly vague, but I'll let you see for yourself. I would've gave the story a 10, but I expected to have certain things explained through this series that just plain weren't, but the story is still interesting at that. The art is very beautiful. Some people referred to this as "chibi" referring to the character's as being small, but the only chibi-ness I found in the series were the two main characters, Shugo and Rena as Kite and BlackRose, and the rest were regular. The art is still very beautiful, particularly Shugo and Rena's eyes. I am a sucker for animé eyes anyways. Also within art comes animation, the animation is quite beautiful and very fluid, which is why it received a high score. The character design is really nothing new. Most of the main characters were already in the videogames for the PS2 (however, they were nicely transformed into the animé) but new characters like Ouka were very interesting (half wolf/half human) and the puchiguso's (Grunties in the games) were as cute as ever. Now for the music, I don't know if I am the only one who enjoys a good soundtrack, but I very much enjoyed the music. Exciting when it needed to be, sad when it needed to be, full of love when it needed to be and that opening is just too friggin catchy! Score of 8 only because it wasn't as broad as it could've been. Well, that about sums it up. The animé is very nice and it is only 12 episodes long so it's worth picking up if you can get it cheap. I already recommended animetronics if you want it cheap, I think it's about 10 dollars for 4 vcd's. I've also seen some info about a manga made for this series, though I haven't had the chance to read it yet. It is also said that the manga is different from the animé with separate characters (including no Sanjuro) and many would say that the manga is better and explains better than the animé. Check it out! Also if you're really into the .hack series and want some serious brain-jogging story twists and turns and an experience JUST like The World, get the PS2 videogames! Go to gamefaqs.com for more info and even my review (as FenderStrat492) of .hack//INFECTION. And that's that then, isn't it? Hope this helped. So far I have watched episode 1, 2, and 4 (yes, 4, not 3 :(.). If all the episodes are like the ones I've observed, this seris should be a throughly enjoyable series. This series is a TON prettier then .hack//SIGN and fun series to watch. Though it hints at having a dark plot, overall, this series is upbeat and funny. At times, it's serious but overall it shows players having a good time in 'The World'. From what I've seen so far, I can highly reccommend this to anyone seeking an enjoyable, fun, and simple series. Series started in Japan on January 8, 2003. We once again return to 'The World' where trouble is afoot again. It seems nobody has yet sloved the problem of people going into commas... you think by now someone would have noticed too. Anyway, this series is similiar as the other two .hack series and the game; this time in Chibi form. 'The World' is also much nicer looking than what was seen in .hack//SIGN. This series a must see for .hack fans worldwide or, if your not, check it out anyway. Regardless, their will be always elements in the series will just not make sense nor explianed, so don't expect answers. Last updated Thursday, January 16 2003. | ||||||||
