Kawaii/Shoujo Titles

#
Kawaii: (↗kawaii (可愛い) = "cute" or "adorable") If you've watched anime in Japanese, you've heard characters use the term 'kawaii'. So if the title makes you want to say that (often using ↗chibi characters, i. e. small and super-deformed), then it fits.

Shoujo: (Target Group) (↗shoujo (少女) = "young lady", "virgin", "maiden"; opposite of "Shounen") A style of artwork and story created for girls (usually of age 10 to 18). Characterized by plots that focus on emotion and relationships, and art that tends toward the florid, with lanky characters and rather effeminate (but always attractive) men. Mostly popular with teenagers in Japan, most shoujo-style work has not spread widely, but it does occasionally gain recognition outside Japan (some examples are Revolutionary Girl Utena and X). The most common uses are "shoujo manga", literally meaning "girls' comics", and "shoujo anime" meaning "girls' animation." Also romanized as "shojo" (actually a different word "処女" in Japanese). Kinomoto Sakura is a bright, cheerful, cute little 4th grade girl. She lives with her 17-year old brother and her widowed father in a nice home in Japan. One day, she hears strange noises coming from the basement of her home. Cautiously investigating the source amongst the rows of book shelves, she discovers it is coming from a glowing old book called "The Clow". Unlocking the book, Sakura discovers that it is in fact a storage box for a deck of odd cards. While attempting to read the English word "Windy" on the front of the top card, she accidently activates the magic card, causing the entire deck to be scattered and disappear all over Japan. The only card that survives is the "Windy" card.

Saga is a normal school girl living in Europe. She has everything planned down to the smallest details for her daily life and she works very hard (in addition to being very musical). Her friends love her for this and her self-appointed rival Greta does not. Things are fine until one day on the way home, Saga discovers something small, ultra cute, and very hungry -- the apprentice snow fairy named Sugar. Humans normally can't see fairies but in this case Saga can. Having fed the hungry fairy, Sugar has attached herself to Saga like a lost puppy. And when Sugar's friends and fellow apprentices Salt and Pepper join the scene to look for the elusive "Twinkles", what's a girl to do?

Not wanting to put her grandfather (on her father's side) out while his house is being renovated, she told him she would stay with friends so no one knows she's living in a tent. In the meantime, she goes to school and works her part-time job on a cleaning crew so that she can pay her high school tuition (in Japan, high school is like college in the US).
