A hidden military organization named Mithril mobilizes three crack troops (Sousuke, Kurz, & Mao) to secretly protect a young Japanese girl, Chidori Kaname, from being kidnapped. Sousuke Sagara is assigned to be her personal bodyguard and must go undercover as a fellow high school student while not letting her know she's in danger or that he's protecting her. Unfortunately, Sousuke has little experience in understanding life as a normal high school student thus he considers just about any little action or thing around him to be a threat on Kaname. |

In a near future time when alien attacks have become a common event, a secret (Japanese) organization called the GRA (GRAND RIFUREKUTO AMUDO, Grand Reflect Armor) has developed a very effective defense. Using a technology developed by Dr Sanada Mio, which she calls the 'G-On', certain young students wearing glasses (hence the "G" in the title) are able to harness their strong feelings and manifest those abilities and weapons that prove effective against the alien attacking units. The GRA has sponsored an elite high school to help identify and develop the students who have this ability in the hopes that they can defend not only Japan, but also the earth from the alien invaders. |

MiniPato |

Only available as part of the Ultimate Edition(of Patlabor WXIII), these three theatrical short cartoons bring the real Patlabor stars back one last time, albeit in quite a different manner. Goto, Nagumo, and the rest have become super-deformed CGI puppets, and each of the shorts is a self-referential “instructional video” that gleefully shreds apart the Patlabor mythos. Goto talks at length about just how stupid the concept of a “Revolver Cannon” really is, Shige speculates on ways to sell more “Patlabor” merchandise by making the Ingrams transform, and Nagumo reveals the ludicrous truth behind Special Vehicles' mysterious source of income. MiniPato is one big in-joke, but folks in the know will find it hilarious, and it represents the first time Mamoru Oshii has written comedy since the Patlabor TV series ended over a decade ago. |
